Each year, Disney's flagship resort, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, builds a giant gingerbread house in their luxurious lobby. This gingerbread house is really made out of gingerbread and it is so big that a Cast Member actually works inside selling gingerbread treats!

This sweet is something you just have to see! Our family saw it in 2008 during its 10th year anniversary. We picked up this pamphlet (pictured left) that gave some details about the gingerbread house, as well as a menu of what sweet treats you can buy inside! It also made a great free souvenir, perfect for scrapbooking!

The gingerbread house is made from over a thousand pounds of honey, 800 lbs of flour, 35 lbs of spices, over 500 lbs of chocolate, and almost 200 lbs of apricot glaze! It also takes over 2 months for Disney to bake and build this sweet masterpiece!

Inside the house, you can purchase a gingerbread shingle to eat, just like what was used on the house! There are also other sugary snacks for sale here, such as cookies and Mickey inspired treats. We also saw that there were gingerbread ornaments and mini gingerbread houses to buy, along with special, limited edition Grand Floridian gingerbread house pins!

Pictured above is my Disney Bro's Grand Floridian Gingerbread House pin from 2008. He's a huge Disney pin trader/collector. Also, be sure to take a look at this video below to see the Grand Floridian's Gingerbread House for yourself; and comment below if you have seen this tasty creation in person or if it's on your Disney to-do list!
