The celebrations have led us to ask a question: Which is Scarier?
Well, that's what we're going to find out!
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Height Requirement: 40 in.
Ride Experience: an elevator randomly dropping up and down a 13 story elevator shaft!
Ride Vehicle: rows of seats in an elevator with seatbelts and handles.
Storyline: the events of a spooky night years ago in an old Hollywood hotel repeat when you board a maintenance elevator and enter the Twilight Zone.
Queue: exterior and interior of a mysteriously abandoned hotel where something clearly has gone wrong...
What's so Intense? numerous, random drops that take guests' stomach!
Speed: slightly faster than a gravity free-fall
Length: 3:10 minutes
Scary or Fun? Scary
Rock n' Roller Coaster
Height Requirement: 48 in.
Ride Experience: speeding through downtown L.A. in the dark at 60 mph!
Ride Vehicle: a limo-style coaster car with over head shoulder restraints and built-in speakers blasting Aerosmith tunes.
Storyline: a high speed limo ride through nighttime Los Angeles to catch an Aerosmith concert.
Queue: the fictional G-Force recording studio where the band, Aerosmith, is recording.
What's so Intense? 0 to 60 mph takeoff in 2.8 seconds, two inversions, and a corkscrew with 4-5 gs.
Speed: 60 mph
Length: 1:22 minutes
Scary or Fun? Fun
Height Requirement Winner: Rock n' Roller Coaster - Kids must be at least 48 in as opposed to Tower of Terror's 40 in.
Ride Experience: Rock n' Roller Coaster - It's the only ride at WDW with inversions and is the second fastest ride on property. It also takes place completely in the dark.
Ride Vehicle: Rock n' Roller Coaster - This is a hard one. Tower of Terror's elevator only offers a seat belt and a handle, but Rock n' Roller Coaster's shoulder restraints let you know that this is definitely not "it's a small world."
Storyline: Tower of Terror - A lightning strike in 1939 that sent guests in an elevator to the Twilight Zone? It's enough to make anyone a little nervous!
Queue: Tower of Terror - The creepy music, the dusty, abandoned lobby, the flickering lights in the boiler room... Just try not to run for the exit!
What's so Intense? Rock n' Roller Coaster
Again, it's the ride layout itself: the take-off, inversions, etc.
Speed: Rock n' Roller Coaster - 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds?
Length: Tower of Terror - This attraction is all about the story, the drops are just the finale.
Scary or Fun? Tower of Terror is all about the scare factor, while Rock n' Roller Coaster is more about intense fun.
Tower of Terror: 4
While the attraction drops you into the middle of a spooky story and lets you live it, the drops are not as intense as inversions and many are not in the dark in that the elevator doors open up during drops to let in light.
Rock n' Roller Coaster: 5
This attraction is all about rock music and the adrenaline rush with a stronger focus on fun than fear; however, the intense ride experience and high speeds make the ride itself just a little more scarier!
