The Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom is the most magical of all parks at WDW and home to the iconic Cinderella castle! This park is a dream come true for kids and is a true Neverland for adults. Magic Kingdom is home to classic attractions, thrill rides, great restaurants, and the best parades and fireworks displays. We recommend beginnng and ending your trip to WDW here, whether you are rookie or a seasoned veteran.
Main Street USA
As soon as you enter the park, you will find yourself in what appears to be a turn of the century, victorian town. This area is called Main Street USA and is home to numerous shops, two restaurants, a working barber shop, horse drawn trolleys, and is where you will get your first look at Cinderella Castle! Every afternoon and during most evenings, you can watch parades going down Main Street and get a postcard-perfect view of Wishes, the amazing firework display high above the castle. Main Street has all of the charm and elegance of days gone by and serves to usher you into the park. This is one of our favorite areas in all of Magic Kingdom due to its beauty and detail. Be sure to fully explore this area and the shops, as well as the windows up above. The names are former Disney Imagineers and even Walt himself!
Once you reach the end of Main Street, the park opens up into what's called "the hub". This area consists of Cinderella Castle and the "partners" statue of Walt Disney and Mickey. From "the hub", the Magic Kindom breaks off into paths that lead to five different themed lands. These lands are: Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.
Shows, attractions, characters, restaurants, snack areas, shops, and even bathrooms found in these respective areas follow the theme of the land in which they are placed which is part of the Magic Kingdom's appeal.

Adventureland
Almost all of the attractions in Adventureland are classic Disney attractions that Walt Disney himself oversaw or had a hand in. When you walk into this land, you will feel as if you have walked into the jungle or an old adventure novel. Here you get the chance to fly on Aladdin's magic carpet, cruise down the rivers of the world, visit an enchanted tiki room, explore a tree house in the jungle, and sail with pirates in the caribbean!
Adventureland is great because of the number of classic Disney attractions offered here. Also, in our experience, the lines at Adventureland attractions are typically shorter than attractions in other lands. The attractions here are also suitable for all ages so the whole family have fun together! However, don't let the lack of height requirements scare you away if you're a thrill seeker because while the attractions at Adventureland are of a calmer nature, they are clever, enjoyable, and even hold a few surprises! Adventureland also has a number of shops and eateries, including the very popular Aloha Isle.
Jungle Cruise: 4 Glass Slippers (our rating)
This is a classic Disney attraction where you board a boat and are steered through the rivers of the world by a comical captain/guide. As your guide tells corny jokes that keep you and other guests laughing, you get to see audio-animatronic hippos, elephants, lions, and more! You even venture by waterfalls and through a temple! Be sure to try at night for a whole new experience. This is a great attraction for Disney historians and little guests and older guests due to the tame ride, scenery, and corny jokes!

Magic Carpets of Aladdin: 3 Glass Slippers
While many Disney fans may disagree, I think this is a much better attraction than Dumbo. Maybe it's because I'm an Aladdin fan, but I would much rather ride a magic carpet than an elephant! This attraction seats two in the front and two in the back; and if you sit in the front, you get to control how high or low you go. If you sit in the back, you get to control the tilt. All around this attraction, be sure to look down to see jewels and bits of broken tile in the pavement, and be on watch for the spitting camel! We recommend this attraction for little guests.

Pirates of the Caribbean: 4.5 Glass Slippers
This is another classic Disney attraction and is one of the most popular in WDW. This attraction is an indoor boat ride that begins with pirate themed scenes that warn of what's to come, including an appearance by Davy Jones, before sending you over a small drop in the dark. After the drop, you will find yourself in the middle of a pirate battle and then a town being attacked by pirates! Don't worry, most of the scenes aren't scary but comical! Also, be on the lookout for Captain Jack Sparrow as he searches for treasure. He pops up every now and again! This ride has no height requirement, but the darkness, drop, the battle, and some of the content may frighten some children; but overall this a tame ride. The boats also hold a good number of people and the lines are typically short for such a popular attraction; but even if you have a long wait, the line is cool, dim, indoors, and sets the tone and atmosphere for the ride itself. Also be sure to look through the windows when waiting in line. Below you will see two pirate skeletons in a stalemate game of chess! We recommend this attraction for Disney historians and all ages!

Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse: 3 Glass Slippers
This attraction is based off of the classic Disney film, the Swiss Family Robinson, which was based off of the classic book. This attraction is an elaborate treehouse where nature has been employed to provide the Robinsons with the comforts of home, even though they were shipwrecked on an island. This attraction may be a little dated, but it is still entertaining, highly clever, and full of details. Be aware that the only way to see the tree is by stairs; and this can get exhausting or may be difficult for some. It's probably not the best for little guests or older guests.

Frontierland
Fronierland is a land dedicated to the American old west and the frontier. This land provides you with the history and ruggedness that accompanied this time and place in history, along with the excitement and aventure that surrounded pioneers. This land is very popular because it is home to two of Disney's popular "mountain" attractions: Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This land also has shops, an arcade, a show, and an island to explore! While there are things you HAVE to do here, be sure to take some time to just enjoy the scenery as well.
Splash Mountain: 5 Glass Slippers
Considered one of the best attractions at WDW, this is also a personal favorite of ours! Splash Mountain is a log flume attraction, but on a whole new level! From the moment you see this attraction, you know what's coming, a huge plummet down the front of the mountain! However, that's not all to this ride. Splash Mountain has several other drops inside and plenty to see along the way as you follow Brer Rabbit search for his Laughin' Place and struggle to stay one step ahead of Brer Fox and Brer Bear. Be sure to stop by the gift shop after the attraction to get a picture of you and your group on your way down the soggy drop! Warning: you will get wet on this ride; and the right side of the log and the first two rows are the worst! Scroll down to see our tips for ways to keep yourself and your things dry. This is a great attraction for all ages due to fantastic story and those who enjoy water rides and a thrill!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: 3.5 Glass Slippers
This attraction is a runaway mine train Disney style that sits next door to another famous Disney mountain, Splash Mountain. While this may appear to be a tame coaster in comparison to Rock n' Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios, this ride is surprisingly quick with turns, hills, and dips through a detailed Southwestern landscape. This is a great starter coaster for young ones or those afraid of heights who still enjoy a wild ride! On this attraction, you will be taken inside and out the mountain. The attention to detail on this ride is excellent, you will probably see something new every time you ride! This attraction is also great to ride at night for a different experience. Don't miss! We recommend this attraction for young guests as an entry level coaster and for anyone who enjoys a wild ride; however, it's probably not best for older guests due to the rough bumps, dips, and turns.

Tom Sawyer Island: 2.5 Glass Slippers
This is an island located in the middle of the Rivers of America, the water lapping at the shores of Frontierland and Liberty Square. This island is inspired by Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer. Be sure to notice the half finished whitewashed fence where Tom has left his mark! This island is only accessbile by raft and once you arrive, you can explore Fort Langhorn, cross a barrel bridge, venture down wooded trails, explore caves, or relax at Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn. This attraction is unique in that it lets you escape from the concrete and crowds and you're free to experience what this attraction has to offer at your own pace. Be aware that the island opens a little later than the park and closes around sundown. Great for all restless, young guests, parents who need a break from the crowds, and older guests to relax; but it won't be that enjoyable for teens.

Liberty Square
Liberty Square celebrates America's colonial history. This is a really beautiful themed land full of history and details. Be sure to see the Liberty Tree which lights up nightly! This land has terrific shops, one of the best counter service dining locations in WDW, a delicious full service dining location, a ride, show, and a huge riverboat where you can take a relaxing cruise around Tom Sawyer's Island. Be sure to spend some time here and enjoy a celebration of American patriotism.
Liberty Belle Riverboat: 3 Glass Slippers
This attraction is a 3 tiered riverboat that sends you on a trip around Tom Sawyer's Island. During your journey, you get a whole new look at Liberty Square and Frontierland, along with a few scenes that you don't see when walking through the Magic Kingdom. One of our favorite things on this voyage is getting a close up look of Big Thunder Mountain and hearing Mark Twain narrating your trip. This attraction is just under twenty minutes and may get boring for some kids; however, this is a great attraction to get off your feet if you can get a seat or at least get away from the bustle of the crowds and relax. Great for older guests and photographers, but not so great for teens or little guests.

Hall of Presidents: 4.5 Glass Slippers
This is an attraction not to be missed! This is show where you watch a beatiful, inspiring film covering integral points of American history before the curtain rises to reveal audio-animatronic replicas of all the American presidents. The detail and accuracy of these audio-animatronics is spectacular. While George Washington and Barack Obama give short speeches, be sure to pay attention to the other presidents who fidget, shift in their seats, and scratch their noses! At the end of the show, the background turns into the flag and you exit feeling proud to be an American! While some little guests may not find this show very exciting, it will keep their attention for the most part; however, they may get a little restless during the speeches. A benefit of this show is that it is dark and cool and you get off your feet for awhile. Also, before the show, spend some time looking at the displays in the lobby of dresses of the first ladies and items that once belonged to presidents! In all, don't miss this edcuational, patriotic, and inspiring show! Great for any and all!

Other Attractions: Haunted Mansion
Okay, I know that most people are HUGE fans of the Haunted Mansion; but we're not. When members of our family were younger, this attraction scared us; and when we older, it just wasn't fun. Also, we're not big fans or supporters of supernatural, witchcraft stuff, especially if its being portrayed in a positive way.

Fantasyland
This land is located directly behind Cinderella castle and celebrates fantasy and fairy tales! Fantasyland offers several attractions that put you into magical moments from some of your favorite Disney films. All of the attractions here are tame and suitable for all ages; but even if you are a thrill seeker, be sure to spend some time here. Of all the lands at the Magic Kingdom, this land allows you to be a kid again with its excellent attractions and charm. However, be warned that this land can get very crowded due to its central location and attractions; and the lines for rides here can be very long.
"it's a small world": 3 Glass Slippers
This clasic Disney attraction is not based off of a Disney film; but it is an iconic attraction with a very famous song! At this attraction, you board a boat and float through different rooms representing different countries, peoples, and cultures from all over the world. Small dolls, pastel colors, and a sweet design translate these countries and cultures and teach us the importance of peace and getting along because it really is a small world after all. While some people may get annoyed with the repeating song and cuteness, there is something about this ride that is very appealing and you will rarely exit without a smile. This is also a great attraction for Disney historians, older guests, and kids. It's also a good cool down for adults and is relaxing for all.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: 4 Glass Slippers
This attraction will be popular with any Winnie the Pooh fan. This ride begins in a newly refurbished entry area which should only heighten your experience before you board one of Winnie the Pooh's honey pots and head into the story book. During your visit to the Hundred Acre Wood, you will encounter Pooh and his friends on a blustery day, enter Pooh's dream of Heffalumps and Woosels, and watch as a rain shower turns into a flood. But not to worry, there are only happy endings and silly fun in Pooh's world! Also, when you encounter Tigger, your honey pot will actually bounce along with him! This is a great attraction, especially for little guests. Don't miss!

Peter Pan's Flight: 4.5 Glass Slippers
This attraction has been one of my personal favorites since I was a little. Peter Pan's Flight has you board a flying pirate ship, which seats two adults or three if there's a small child. What is unique about these ride vehicles is that they run on a track from the ceiling so that you truly feel as if your ship is flying! Once you board the ship, you sail through the Darling children's nursery and then out over a nightime London. This part of the attraction is my favorite because you really feel as if you are flying over London with tiny cars moving below and a lighted Big Ben nearby. Next you fly over Neverland where you see Mermaid Lagoon, Captain Hook's pirate ship below, and the Indians; and then you will find that Captain Hook has captured Wendy, John, and Michael; but don't worry, Peter Pan is fighting Hook nearby! This is a great ride for all ages and captures the magic of the original Peter Pan film. The line can be very long so be sure to visit it early or get a fastpass!

Mickey's Philharmagic: 5 Glass Slippers
This attraction is a 3-D show where you enter a concert hall and are supposed to hear Mickey orchestrate the philharmonic in a concert. However, thanks to Donald, things don't go as planned... Donald loses Mickey's magicians hat, which he uses to conduct the magic instruments, and it takes him into different scenes of popular Disney movies. You and Donald will encounter the mops from Fantasia, fly through the sky with Aladdin and Jasmine on a magic carpet, visit Ariel in her grotto, fly over London with Peter Pan, and hear from Simba about how he can't wait to be King! This is one of our family's favorite attractions that we have to see at least once on our trip to WDW. The 3-D effects are excellent; and the show employs other effects to further immerse you into the scenes. For example, a fan blows on you when you are flying, a light spray of water dusts the crowd when you encounter Fantasia mops, and tasty aromas waft over the audience and air cannons blow air when Lumiere sings "Be Our Guest! What is especially great about this show is that you get to see Mickey and his crew along with popular Disney characters in highlight moments of their films all together in one 3-D show! You can't go wrong with Disney's best films and characters in one show! Great for all ages, don't miss!

Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland is a representation of a retro version of the future and is home to many popular Magic Kingdom attractions!
Space Mountain: 3.5 Glass Slippers
Space Mountain has recently be redone; but in our opinion, the changes were not improvements. We rated this attraction with four glass slippers because it is a classic attraction and probably offers the most thrills at Magic Kingdom. This is an indoor coaster that seats three, with the seats in a vertical row. The coaster takes place mostly in the dark with light effects throughout the ride to make you feel as if you are in space. This coaster may feel as if it goes fast, but the ocassional light effects make it seem much faster than it is. Space Mountain has no inverts are super steep drops, but there are plenty of jerks, turns, hills, and dips to satsify thrill seekers. I recommend riding once if you want a rush, or if you have roller coaster rookies who want to give coasters a try. This is not a great ride for older guests due to its roughness; but its great for brave young guests, teens, and adults.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin: 5 Glass Slippers
This attraction may be geared towards kids, but adults of all ages are sure to have fun here too! If you aren't traveling with kids, still give this ride a shot. When walk into this ride, the storyline is that you are shrunk down to the size of a toy and are at Buzz's Star Command where there is an alert! A lifesize, audio animatronic Buzz Lightyear informs you before boarding the ride that Zurg is stealing batteries and we are being sent to help stop him. You will board ride vehicles that seat two, three if you are traveling with a small child. These ride vehicles are fitted with two laser cannons and one joy stick which can rotate your vehicle 360 degrees. You are then sent into space where you must shoot your laser cannons at the targets. When you hit a target, your score shows up on the screen near your cannon. This ride takes you into several rooms, one containing Zurg himself, to allow you to rack up as many points as you can. At the end of the ride, a chart on the wall gives your rank according to the score you obtained. This seems to be a very popular ride for little guests, but adults also enjoy it too to compete with members of their family or to beat their previous score. Try at least once, if not twice!

Carousel of Progress: 4.5 Glass Slippers
This is another classic Disney attraction which is often overlooked or underrated. During this show, your theater actually moves in a circle for each scene. The shows stars an audio-animatronic father who tells the audience of the progress being made during his time period. He demonstrates the new modern conveniences, stories in the news, and the happenings in his own family. The father does this three times but in three different time periods through the 20th century. The final scene is a futuristic scence which takes place during Christmas; however, unfortunately this scene is rather outdates and not is good in comparison to the previous scenes. The first three scenes are terrific, entertaining, historical, and charming! This is also a good place to get off your feet and cool off! Don't miss! Great for all ages, especially Disney historians, older guests, and adults.

Mike's Laugh Floor: 4 Glass Slippers
This attraction is an interactive show where you are taken into Monstropolis from Pixar's Monster's Inc. The one-eyed monster Mike is your host at a laugh club that collects laughs instead of screams, as monsters used to do, as evidenced by a giant laugh can next to the stage that fills up throughout the show. This hilarious show has digital monsters actually interacting with you and other guests in the audience; and the jokes are hilarious for young and old! Great for all ages and very entertaining!

Fireworks
Wishes: 5 Glass Slippers
This should be at the top of your to do list when you visit the Magic Kingdom! Typically beginning an hour after the Main Street Electrical Parade, Wishes is narrated by Jiminy Cricket who tells guests about wishes. Early into the display, follow the wire that hangs near the top to the castle and stretches over to Tomorrowland. Tinkerbell will fly down the wire and over the park! Also during the display, you hear tributes from Disney movies; and at one point, Disney villains turn wishes and dreams into nightmares! But not to worry, good always triumphs over evil. The music and fireworks are amazing! Don't miss!
