Disney Pin Trading

Disney Pin Trading has become a popular pastime for park guests and Disney fans. Disney pins feature Disney characters, attractions, resorts, events, holidays, icons, and even Walt Disney himself! Some guests purchase Disney pins for the purpose of a souvenir; but others are serious about collecting and trading. Some pins are actually very rare or can become quite valuable; and some Disney guests purchase pins as an investment. Either way, Disney pin trading is a lot of fun and a great way to remember your vacation to Walt Disney World.

Pin Trading for Rookies & Collectors

If you want to display your pins, start trading, or both, you can purchase a lanyard to display your pins. You will soon find that guests wear pin lanyards almost as much as they do mouse ears! If you don't want the hassle of a lanyard, Disney also has collector books to display your pins; and other guests often display their pins on jackets, hats, and even bags.

Disney pins are priced by color with red being the cheapest and amythst being the most expensive. If you know you're going to buy or trade on your trip, you can save money by purchasing pins online or at stores in Orlando.

If you want to trade, you are free to do so with Disney Cast Members. They are often seen wearing lanyards or displaying pins. Don't worry if the pin you want to trade is of lesser or greater value because Disney Cast Members are obligated to trade and happy to do so. Also be sure to ask at your Disney resort gift shop counter for their pin board or pin book which you are free to trade out of.

Looking for those rare and valuable pins to add to your collection? Try visiting around the holidays during special events at WDW! Disney usually issues special pins during this time, many of which are released in limited quantities.

For example, during Christmastime, you can find special pins for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights, and the Grand Floridian's Gingerbread house. These pins are often dated and are difficult to find at times. We have observed that the parks typically don't bring out these special pins to sell until the event starts; and they can sell out quickly!

Another event which produces special, limited edition pins is Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. They can sell out quickly and may be produced in limited quantities.

While pins are sold almost everywhere you look at WDW, you can find some rare and collectible pins year round at certain spots throughout the parks. Some of our favorite shops to find collectible pins include the Trading Post at the Magic Kingdom's Frontierland and the giant Sorcerer's Hat at the center of Hollywood Studios.
